The third round of the Circuito Nacional de Kitesurf AKCM was held in the sleepy village of Tel Chac Puerto on the Gulf coast of Mexico May 28, 2006. The all-inclusive Reef resort, provided an excellent stretch of beach for the contest and brought many new competitors from Cancún, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Merida and Tulum. The action began on Friday when the wind began to blow in the afternoon on Friday and everyone got out to show their stuff. There was a simple elimination round with 11 hits on Friday, 3 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. On Saturday morning the wind was blowing offshore and everyone took advantage of the wind by having a free-ride session in the lagoon behind the hotel. It was a great show and then the wind started to blow sideshore and everyone hit the beach again. The wind picked up enough to get a decent round in Saturday. On Sunday, the same offshore wind allowed for a small session in the lagoon again. Then a perfect surprise, the wind picked up to a nice 25 + knots and blew consistently for the rest of the afternoon. It was awesome conditions and a provided a perfect stage for the final round of the competition. The competitors performed very technical moves and were catching some serious air. In the end Miguel Manzanilla and Kenji Jones faced off in a close battle that had the judges debating over a very difficult decisión. The final standing: 1. Miguel Manzanilla 2. Kenji Jones 3. Felipe Mena and 4. Diego Berho, It was a very successful weekend. The Gulf Coast of the Yucatan is a great site and we look forward to more action there in the future. Telchac Yucatán, 28 de mayo del 2006.El Reef Club Telchac fué la sede de la 3a Ronda del Circuito Nacional deKitesurf AKCM. La magnífica playa de este hotel y sus excelentesservicios permitieron que el torneo fuera todo un éxito. El viento,contra todos los pronósticos que marcaba el fin de semana y el maltiempo, no nos falló, sopló muy bien el viernes, regular el sábado y muybién el domingo, y tuvimos el viento mas fuerte de las 3 rondas delcircuito, la brisa entró aproximadamente a las 2 o 3 de la tarde y subióaproximadamente hasta los 25 nudos, poniendo a esta costa dentro de lasfavoritas para realizar kite por la alta probabilidad de viento fuerte yconstante. Tuvimos muchos competidores nuevos de la penísnsula de Yucatán que seinscribieron a esta 3a ronda, de Cancun, Playa del Carmen, PuertoMorelos, Mérida y Tulum. Estos competidores mostraron su gran nivel quetienen debido a que practican con mucha frecuencia.Se realizó la eliminación sencilla logrando hacer 11 hits el viernes, 3el sábado y 4 el domingo.En los octavos de final se vió un nivel muy alto, Miguel Manzanilla,Diego Berho, Kenji Jones y Felipe Mena demostraron lo que se necesitapara quedar dentro de los primeros 4 lugares, haciendo muchas maniobrastécnicas de poder y con gran altura.En las Semifinales se enfrentaron Miguel Manzanilla contra Diego Berho yKenji Jones contra Felipe Mena, avanzando a la final Miguel y Kenji ycompitiendo por 3o y 4o Felie y Diego.Finalmente los lugares quedaron 1o Miguel Manzanilla, 2o Kenji Jones, 3oFelipe Mena y 4o Diego Berho.Durante toda la competencia hubo momentos críticos para los jueces ya quehubo heats muy cerrados en donde las decisiones de quien pasaba eran muydifíciles, esto se vió hasta la final también donde Miguel y Kenjituvieron un hit extremadamente cerrado.Fuera de la competencia hubo dos sesiones de free ride en una lagunaatrás del hotel ya que el viento en la mañana era del Sureste y en estalaguna se prestaban las condiciones para practicar con esta dirección deviento. Viento rachoso conchas cortantes y algas que quemaban la piel noimpidieron a una docena de papaloteros disfrutar de cortar el agua planaplana como mantequilla, haciendo trucos de estilo wakeboard y recorridosde velocidad.
