The Tel Chac Kitesurfing Competition

The third round of the Circuito Nacional de Kitesurf AKCM was held in the sleepy village of Tel Chac Puerto on the Gulf coast of Mexico May 28, 2006.  The all-inclusive Reef resort, provided an excellent stretch of beach for the contest and brought many new competitors from Cancún, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Merida and Tulum.  The action began on Friday when the wind began to blow in the afternoon on Friday and everyone got out to show their stuff. There was a simple elimination round with 11 hits on Friday, 3 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday.

On Saturday morning the wind was blowing offshore and everyone took advantage of the wind by having a free-ride session in the lagoon behind the hotel.  It was a great show and then the wind started to blow sideshore and everyone hit the beach again.  The wind picked up enough to get a decent round in Saturday.

What started off as a slow day became quit the competitive contest between our group of participants.
